Fortify Fire Protection specializes in commercial kitchen fire suppression systems, pre-engineered industrial fire systems, servicing portable fire extinguishers, as well as fire sprinklers and fire alarms.
The company was established in 2015 and was formerly known as Ceasefire Fire Protection. Our main goal is to minimize loss, and maximize safety. We recognize that is accomplished by building professional relationships with our customers.
Semi-annual maintenance is required for pre-engineered fixed suppression systems, so every six-months for your restaurant fire suppression system. Commonly referred to as an “Ansul system”.
Annual Maintenance is required to be performed on fire extinguishers. Fire extinguishers should also be inspected monthly- referred to as a “quick check” to verify the gauge is in range, the pull pin is in place, and the fire extinguisher is mounted, and readily available and accessible in the event you should need one. The monthly check can be performed by you, and signed off each month on the back of the Annual Maintenance tag.
If you are unsure, the best way to start is to CONTACT US and let us come take a look at your extinguishers or systems.
There are several types of fire extinguishers, each designed for different kinds of fires. The most common types are:
We often observe many businesses who do not have the correct extinguisher for their particular operations. Don’t let this happen to you!
The general rule of thumb is one fire extinguisher for every 3,000 square feet and every 75 ft. of travel distance. Travel distance represents the distance it would take to walk to the fire extinguisher with no obstruction in the way such as: walls, counter tops, desks, etc. Ceilings 10 ft. or higher will require a 10# ABC fire extinguisher. Other hazards such as paper storage, flammable liquids, kitchen appliances, and so on will also require additional coverage. Several things! First, we observe the pressure gauge to ensure the correct pressure is maintained (a small gauge showing green.) Next, we search for any rust, dents, or damage that would prohibit the fire extinguisher from working properly…Unfortunately, this is something many businesses suffer from. Last, we see when the fire extinguisher was manufactured or when the last maintenance was done. Too often we observe extinguishers that might have the correct “inspection date” from a company, but the extinguisher was never really inspected properly. We pride ourselves on making sure your extinguishers function if and when they need to!
